Why "Overlapping Magisteria?" Stephen J. Gould wrote a great book called "Rocks of Ages". I agreed with almost all of it, except his notion of "Non-overlapping Magisteria", which is the idea that religion and science represent different areas of inquiry and live in different domains, thus there need be no conflict between them.
I don't believe there needs to be conflict between science and religion or spirituality, but the reality is that there is. And I don't agree that these are completely different spheres, because both ultimately come from our drive to understand the environment in which we find ourselves.
And as a trained scientist & theologian, these overlap for me a lot.
